Beaudesert State High School offers a program of Instrumental Music.
Music Literacy, Technique and Performance are taught via small-group lessons and performance ensembles, such as school concert bands, orchestras and other groups. The program includes a 1 x 1hr ensemble rehearsal and a 1 x 30‐35min group lesson, as well as regular home practice.
Instruments students can learn:
- String Instruments
- Violin
- Viola
- Cello
- Double Bass
Band Instruments:
- Flute
- Clarinet
- Saxophone
- Bassoon
- Oboe
- Trumpet
- Trombone
- French horn
- Euphonium
- Tuba
- Percussion & Drums
There are four music ensembles for students to join (depending on the student's level):
- String Ensemble
- String Sensations
- Concert Band
- Wind Ensemble
All students are welcome, from complete beginners to experienced players. Music ensembles perform at community and school events, such as Anzac Day, Awards Night and Instrumental Music Night.
Group lessons are composed of between 3-8 students and are 35 minutes long (half a school period) once per week. Lesson times rotate each week so students do not miss the same subject each week.
Most instruments are available to hire from the school (subject to availability)
for a very small fee. Students will also need to purchase other instrument-specific resources (e.g. reeds for clarinet and saxophone, rosin for string instruments).
Music ensemble rehearsals are in addition to the small group lesson and take place either during lunch break or after school (once a week only).
For more information, please contact Mrs Kruger (jhawk158@eq.edu.au) for band instruments or Miss Royan (troya4@eq.edu.au) for string instruments.
