To prepare students for the challenges of higher education and the modern workplace, Beaudesert State High School provides many opportunities for students to use a number of types of technology.

For further convenience, all students have the option of bringing their own personal laptop  to school under the ‘Bring Your Own Device’ (BYOX) program. Please note that this is a personal preference only as, with over 1200 desktops, laptops and iPads, classes needing computer access are well-resourced.

A Windows or Apple laptop purchased within the last couple of years should have sufficient capacity to meet the BYOX requirements. However, please be aware that art, graphics and media software need greater processing power than standard office programs. Students can check device requirements with their relevant teachers.

All current Education Queensland students are eligible to download multiple free copies of Microsoft Windows and Office software to home computers that are used for school studies, reducing the costs when purchasing new devices for your student. Our Free Microsoft software page has further details.

Please refer to our BYOX Minimum Specifications (PDF, 183KB) when purchasing a new device for your student.  You may also contact the school and ask to be put through to the IT Department for further enquiries. To connect to the school network, students must attend the IT Support Department with their laptop and a signed copy of the BYOX Agreement Form (PDF, 230KB). Education Queensland provides further information in the BYOX Charter (PDF, 670KB).

Please note that Windows laptops may come in Windows 10 Safe mode. It is highly recommended to move to Windows 10 mode. For more information, please refer to our fact sheet Windows 10 S mode (PDF, 174KB).

For information about the software used to connect BYOX  devices to the school network, please read the BYOXLink Parent Information Sheet (PDF, 168KB).
