Minyahgu (hello) My name is Stacie Fogarty. I am a proud Mununjali woman from Beaudesert.
I am the Community Education Counsellor at Beaudesert State High School.
My role is supporting Indigenous students and their families to ensure your child/ren are culturally safe while attending school. I work alongside our Indigenous students and supporting where I can as well as working closely with teachers to embed Indigenous perspectives into the classroom.
My work days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
I am very passionate about my culture and sharing my knowledge with the Jarjums (children) around me. I love helping create positive pathways so our Indigenous students succeed every day at school and in our community.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island students while providing a culturally safe space for our Jarjums (children) – Our room is called Nyeumba which is located in L07.
- Provide educational counselling to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Children, Students, families and communities.
- Participate in the development of activities in and out of school.
- Provide social and cultural perspectives in all aspects
- Support students' well-being, behaviour, attendance and academics
- Offer supports with students in class
- Participate in activities to develop productive partnerships between members of the school and community
