The Beaudesert SHS Mathematics Curriculum offers every student a pathway for growth and development in this vital subject.
Our Maths department benefits enormously from the expertise of Head of Department Mr Michael Gardiner. Mr Gardiner is a member of the Queensland Education examination review panel, and supervises the senior teachers who ensure exams are written and marked to the correct standards. He is one of the few education experts to have held the three positions of Lead Endorser, Lead Confirmer and Lead External Marker.
Mr Gardiner is the co-author of 3 QCE Mathematics textbooks for the highly regarded Cambridge University Press.
Under his coaching, Maths teachers ensure their classes incorporate games, activities, competitions and challenges to foster enthusiasm and engagement.
For students who need focused teaching, Literacy and Numeracy Support involves working in small groups with teachers and Teacher Aides to build strong, comprehensive foundations. Functional Mathematics is part of our Learning Diversity umbrella, which offers specialised classes for students needing extra support. We have mainstream Maths classes, and extension subjects for those students whose abilities require a challenging curriculum.
Students learn skills that will carry them through into careers as diverse as electrical contracting, web coding, real estate analysis and corporate finance.
