Dance
We are proud to offer an absolutely outstanding range of opportunities in Dance here at BSHS.
There are both curriculum and non-curriculum pathways for students all the way from Year 7 to Year 12. As well as being offered as a subject in the junior years, we also offer Year 11 and Year 12 Dance, allowing students to pursue this subject as part of their ATAR. The Dance curriculum is further enriched by regular workshops held by dance professionals, allowing students to boost skills and interact with professionals in the field. We currently have relationships with
Australasian Dance Collective (formerly Expressions Dance Company),
Queensland Ballet and
Phluxus2 Dance Collective.
Our three dance teams (Junior, Senior and Grade 12) work tirelessly throughout the year to create new routines every year to compete against other schools at dance eisteddfods, as well as performing at school and local community events.
Drama
Drama is not just an ATAR eligible subject; it can also be beneficial in so many other ways. Through physicality and fun, Drama has a physical, emotional and social impact on students.
Though the stage and performance are key aspects of drama, students discover that creative thinking is also applied off the stage through devising and directing their own theatre works. While some students may find their skills lie in performance, many students also succeed through the fields of scriptwriting, directing and producing drama works.
The Drama classroom encourages students to communicate, by fostering friendship and collaboration while working towards a common goal.
Drama develops confidence, creativity, empathy, communication, collaborative skills, focus, problem-solving skills, relaxation, memory, awareness of others and of social issues.
Drama performances take place in our Performing Arts Theatre.
Film, Television and New Media
Film, Television and New Media classes take place in our specialised Media Lab.

Visual Art
Visual Arts is a subject that explores a number of different mediums to produce both small and large pieces of work.
Each student develops a deeper understanding of how art can be viewed and the integration of art as form of communication. Their skills are broadened in the elements and principles of art, and through extensive and consistent experimentation, they build on their creative thinking and community mindedness.
Visual Art classes take place in our specialised Art rooms.
