Connecting theory and practise - Oh what a feeling!

A quintessential example of theoretical learning followed by practical application is the obtaining a driver's licence. From learning and understanding the road rules through to applying these behind the wheel in real life driving situations.

The connection of theory and practice begins with the Learner Licence.

The independence and study pathways are immeasurable for students who transition from a learner licence to a P Plate driver. This process however can be a challenging landscape for many students to achieve. From being able to access a suitable vehicle to having a dedicated person available to gain the necessary supervised logbook hours. We've identified the gaps in our students being able to achieve their driving goals and as a solution focussed school; we've found one.

We are proud to announce that Beaudesert State High has partnered with the team from Hinterland Toyota here in Beaudesert who are generously providing a fully serviced and insured vehicle to the school for three days a week as p

art of our Licence Assist Program.

With the vehicle available Tuesday to Thursday each week, students will be able to book a time with a driver buddy on set routes to gain the experience needed.

High school staff have volunteered their personal time to be the driver buddy's allowing students to secure a portion of their required driver logbook hours. Staff will provide encouragement and support to our young people improve their self-esteem and develop positive road safety attitudes. “We are excited to be able to help remove one of those barriers young people often experience when navigating the future" highlights Mike Adamson, General Manager of Hinterland Toyota Beaudesert.

Mrs Mel Frazer championed this project in her role as Industry Liaison Officer having seen numerous students that are keen to work, with the barrier of road experience stopping them. Mrs Frazer stated “We know with access to resources and support our students can achieve their personal best, and with the team from Hinterland Toyota Beaudesert helping out we will see even more students find opportunities that might have otherwise been denied."

Thank you to Mike & the Team at Hinterland Toyota Beaudesert!
