Dear Parents & Carers,
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) for years 7 & 9, will be conducted online between Wednesday 13 March and Tuesday 19 March, 2024. Students will complete one test strand per day.
NAPLAN tests assess student knowledge and skills in Writing, Reading, Conventions of Grammar (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and Numeracy. It is important that students attend and participate in NAPLAN as the results provide valuable information for students, parents, teachers and principals which can be used to improve student learning.
All students are expected to participate in the NAPLAN tests and we encourage every student to do their 'personal best'. Catch-up tests will also be available for individual students who are absent on the scheduled test days.
Students may be withdrawn from NAPLAN by their parent or carer. If you decide to withdraw your young person, you must complete and sign a Student Withdrawal form. These forms are available from the school's website or you may contact the school on (07) 5542 9111. The form must be downloaded, completed and returned to the school by Monday 11 March, 2024.
Later in the year you will receive your child's personal NAPLAN report. This report will describe your student's particular skills in each strand. The report will also show how your young person performed in relation to national minimum standards. These describe the minimum acceptable standards for students across Australia.
I am confident that the information you receive as a result of your student's participation in the NAPLAN tests will be valuable in helping you to assess his/her progress in literacy and numeracy.
Yours sincerely
Damien Burke
Principal
