𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹’𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺: 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆

Last week we gathered under the trees for another special Principal’s Forum, and what an afternoon it was! Our guest speaker, President of the Queensland Ag Shows Association David Wilson, shared insights into the value of agriculture to our economy, and how we can all play a part in bridging the disconnect between producers and the wider community.

Principal Damien Burke led the proceedings with Brad Currie sharing a Welcome to Country highlighting just how far Mununjali Country reaches. Sometimes we forget, as a region, the Scenic Rim is 4 times the area of Logan or Ipswich and 3 times larger than the Gold Coast…!

We were honoured to welcome Mayor Tom Sharp, Councillor Jennifer Sanders, and our State MP Jon Krause, who joined staff, students, and local businesses for an ag team-led luncheon that was as fresh as it gets. With tender lamb straight from our paddocks, crisp coleslaw, and student-grown produce, guests were spoiled, and the platters of fruit and sweet treats were the perfect finish. We did spot James from Ned’s Restaurant eyeing up some prime rump in the fields – and the team from Scenic Financial Services provided some fab goodies for staff and students.  There was a moment that Virginia from Bendigo Bank felt like the pied piper with the chooks following her!

Even with the cheeky Beaudesert winds giving us a challenge, the conversation, company, and country hospitality made for an afternoon that was truly “the Beaudesert way.”

Our students did a sterling job taking guests on tours, helping serve and then staying to help pack down – even forming a human fence for getting some stock onto the truck who had been enjoying the company and didn’t want to leave!

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, supported, and celebrated our students’ efforts, proving once again that when our school and community come together, amazing things happen.
