As new technologies continue to change the world in which we live, they also provide many new and positive educational benefits for classroom instruction. It is with this in mind that in 2023 we launched the next step in Beaudesert State High School digital connection. As a result, we have required all Year 10, 11 and 12 to bring a BYO device to school, every day, since January 2025.

For our 2026 year 10 students, here are the steps for joining the program. ALL existing year 9 students, parents/carers, must:

· read and understand BYOD requirements (via school website and subject selection handbook)

· check minimum specifications required for your device

    • Laptop – either Apple or PC
    • iPad with keyboard attached
    • NO CHROMEBOOKS or Android tablets are compatible
    • complete and sign a BYOD Agreement form and return to the IT department, along with the device so it can be set up on the network, no later than Week 4 – Term 1. [ 20th February 2026]

All documents and supporting resources can be found on the school's website page https://beaudesertshs.eq.edu.au/curriculum/bring-your-own-device

It is recommended that students start this process in term 4 of year 9, to ensure the device is ready to go day one of year 10.

IT support is already accepting devices now for onboarding, students can take their device directly to the library to complete.

It is important to recognise that digital devices will not replace the excellent teaching that takes place in our school. Technology and the ability to have students work more seamlessly in school and at home will enhance learning outcomes across our senior levels of schooling.

Thank you for your continued support.
