Welcome back to all parents, students and the community for Term 1. I am very excited to lead Beaudesert State High into its next chapter as we look ahead to 2024.
Our teaching team has done an incredible job preparing for the year with the large focus of our school Lead In days being on quality teaching and learning. Our support staff have done an incredible job to prepare the school operationally for the return of students in Week 1.
Our annual plan outlines the priority areas for the year and sets the strategic direction for the school. The priority areas for 2024 include:
- Conducting a review of our current curriculum offerings and supporting the implementation of the new Australian Curriculum and Senior General Subject syllabi.
- Focussing on engagement at all levels inside and outside of the classroom.
- Providing high levels of support for all students with regard to their wellbeing and sense of belonging at the school.
- Providing further pathway opportunities for all Senior Secondary students to ensure students are learning or earning post-Year 12 or when leaving school.
- Investing in capability building of our teaching team to ensure that evidence-based practices create classrooms where learning is the main goal.
- Continue to strengthen strong links with the local community for the benefit of all students and families.
- Continue to partner with other schools to promote our PBL program.
We have set aspirational goals for 2024 that will drive the conversations with staff, students and parents to ensure that everyone is accountable to the delivery and attainment of these. These aspirational goals will allow more opportunities for all of our students and ensure students leave our school as numerate and literate contributing members of society.
Our goals for 2024 are:
- 100% of Year 12 students attaining their Queensland Certificate of Education
- 92% average attendance for all students
- 80% A-C and 50% A-B averages for level of achievement in all classes.
I look forward to working with the school community in 2024 and meeting many of you over the coming weeks.
Kind regards
Damien Burke
Acting Principal
